sounds english review

A short and useful guide for anyone teching English sounds pronunciation to a student of English as a Second language. The book is well laid out and beautifully indexed. There is attention paid to the difficulties of specific language users e.g. what problems Russian speakers may have etc. The sections on vowels are very strong indeed; unusual for a book in this genre. It is not full of unnecessarily complicated detail about speech production etc. The exercises are well paced and build up nicely in terms of difficulty. This book does what it says it does, and is reasonably priced
