Really good fun!

A whole lot of "funny ha-ha" spiced with amble amounts of "funny peculiar".
But I don't think it will be as entertaining at all if you haven't read at least the three first Harry Potter books. Even the look-a-like names made me laugh.
I would be surprised if this book couldn't draw a smile on J.K. Rowling's face. There's absolutely no reason, as I see it, to send the "I hate you" note you'll find at the very end - and that's spoken by a true (not fanatic) Harry Potter fan.
I don't consider it a children's book though because of the sexual innuendo that appears occasionally and usually on behalf of Ermine.
Entertainment wise it's easily a four star book but all the clever and hilarious messages and notes earn the fifth star from me.

its ok but not for true hp fans

while many people will find the copy very funny, such as myself, a serious hp fan may be slightly offended. Im a hp fan but i like to be open minded. i think the books brilliant. its the sort of book you have to read a few times to take it all in and the first time i was slightly confused at some parts. all in all though it does what it was ment to, take the mick of hp. Not the worlds best plot but some very good moments. 3stars.

Worth reading, but not buying

This is one of thouse books, that although good, is not something you would likley read twice, if you can get it second hand, or as a gift, you can't complain, read it and enjoy. I borrowed my copy from the public libary service, free, and defiantly worth the walk down to pick it up. So yes it is quite good, it's a nice read, easy going, but enjoyable, people who detest Harry Potter, will love this book, because it ridicules Harry Potter, and the hype surronding it, fans will love it because despite all it's flaws, it does seem to show a degree of effection towards the original books. So get it from your libary or borrow it from a friend, though it's proberly not really worth buying.

Pleasant Surprise

Having heard about this book i decided to buy it. It definately displays a unique charm. I like the Harry Potter books and this is like a darker, funnier, cruder version. The writing isn't as good as JK Rowling's but it's still gripping. The author's use of crude humour, easy jokes, and poking fun at itself makes it hilarious. The plot is fast paced, and sometimes hard to follow, with sudden twists. Although sometimes it seems to exert too much effort to win laughs it is a good, well-worth read. It is way funnier than Harry Potter and some could argue better. More aimed at older readers though but if you like parodies or Harry Potter, or if you hate Harry Potter from his stupid scar to his pet owl's droppings, you should read this funny book. Read about Barry's quest to stop a film about him being made with help from Ermine and Lon who suffered a tragic Quiddet accident, resulting in him having half a Labrador's brain. Ruder, cruder, funnier, darker.

BT Fun

I would recomend Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody for any age group. It is an excellent book about a man called Barry Trotter who is 30 (going on 13) and his wife Ermonie Gringer. Micheal Gerber uses some great phrases through the book. For the price it is an excellent buy and I think anyone with a sense of humour would enjoy it. I found Harry Potter boring and I decided that Barry Trotter was more humorous and interesting.
