Ed Bishop _is_ Philip Marlowe !

|
The world-weary private eye Philip Marlowe, outwardly cynical but inwardly decent, pounds the mean streets again in these excellent BBC Radio dramatisations of two of Raymond Chandler's 1940s L.A. crime stories. Ed Bishop has the perfect voice for Marlowe, a laconic commentator on his times. Ever since hearing Ed Bishop in these radio plays, his voice has been that of Marlowe when I've re-read Chandler's books. A genuine pleasure to listen to !

OK, but not great.

These plays are OK, but there are too many slightly awry accents. Ed Bishop sounds too old, and not even remotely tough. Better than nothing, though, and well produced.
