THE SADDLE CLUB is a hugely popular series by Bonnie Bryant. In this first book, HORSE CRAZY, we are introduced to Stevie Lake, Carole Hanson, and Lisa Atwood. All three girls are very different: Stevie is a practical joker, Carole is obsessed with horses, and Lisa is a straight-A student, but they are brought together by their love of riding.
Stevie and Carole have been friends ever since they met at Pine Hollow Stables, and at first they're not sure that Lisa will fit in. But when Stevie's parents tell her that she can't go on the Mountain Trail Overnight unless she improves her grades, the girls decide to come up with a plan, and eventually the Saddle Club is formed.
This is a very fun and enjoyable series. The stories are quick, light reads, great for a day when you just want to relax with a book. The characters are all likeable and relatable, and HORSE CRAZY does a great job at introducing them and making you want to read more.

Gets better with time.

I am the person who got it for Christmas and had read it by Boxing Day. I would just like to say, that I have now read it three times and it just gets better - the more times you read it. It grows on you. All in all, i think it's great, but i also think Bonnie Bryant started the series off strangely. Lisa hating Stevie? Lisa thinking Veronica was great? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always wanted to read this book, ever since i first started reading Saddle Clubs. I got it for Christmas and by Boxing Day it was finished. I've read better ones, and it was weird to think of Lisa hating Stevie and thinking Veronica was nice (!) but it was great to see how the Saddle Club formed.

First you think, "Nah, this is just another series about friendships like all the other series. It's no different. A nice start to a friendship." But little do you know...it's just the small peak start to one of THE BEST SERIES EVER! Yes, it's about friendship, and horses, and horseback riding, and dude-ranch experiences, and mystery, ADVENTURE, COMEDY, famous, important, awesome, THRILLING horse shows! HORSE/RIDER bonds and experiences! Read this series, people!!!!!!!!! As the series progresses, the riders learn more and more and so do the horses and more and more stuff happens and what's also cool is that stuff that happens also effects books later!!!!! And ANOTHER series springs up! BOOM! It's Pine Hollow series, too! BOTH ARE GREAT!!! READ THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!! I'm telling you, READ IT!!!!!!
