Beauty Plus Revenge Equals a Heck of a Read
|
Nell Calder is plain and plump with a pretty daughter and a handsome financier husband. For some unknown reason she's the target of a drug cartel and during the attempt on her life at a party on a Greek island she's disfigured and her husband and daughter are killed. Nicholas Tanek, enemy of her attackers, flies her to safety and has her transformed from the Ugly Duckling to the Beautiful Swan via plastic surgery. However beauty alone isn't enough of a reason for Nell to go on living, but Nick gives her another, Revenge.
This book marks Iris Johansen's shift from romance writer to a writer of romantic thrillers and it's worth the read. I give it five stars.

What a plot!

This book had a great plot that held my attention through the very end. I had a hard time wanting to go to sleep because I did not want to put the book down. I will continue to read these great books as long as they keep coming out.

Good but the same as all her books

I have just completed Iris Johansen's book The Ugly Duckling. I felt this was the best of the three of her books that I've read but it is also excactly the same as the other two. I have read And Then You Die and Long After Midnight and I must say that if you read any of those books, you've basically read all three. They all have the same story line but different characters. Because I am supposed to be writing a review of the book and not the author, I would say this is an outstanding read. Great book. But as I stated earlier: if you've read Long After Midnight or And Then You Die, don't bother buying this book because they are exactly the same.

GREAT BALANCE OF MYSTERY, ACTION, ROMANCE, & CHARACTER DEV'T

It's been over a year since I have read this book and it is still fresh in my mind as one of my all time favorite stories. It seems this book elicits strong feelings of like or dislike. For me, I LOVED IT. The heroine is a very sympathetic character - an ordinary and unself-assured woman transformed into something more - beautiful, strong, self-confident - through terrible tragedy. I can't remember the last time I cried reading a novel. Judge for yourself and read it.
