Ending a massive let down
|
|
Upon starting the book I quickly found I could not put it down. I immediately liked the characters and found the story entertaining and realistic with potential for a real story. Towards the end came a twist which I felt helped to explain the actions of the husband and I looked forward to how this issue would be addressed. However I could not believe how quickly the ending came! It was as if the author had suddenly had enough of writing and wrapped up the several plot lines in the last chapter. I would have liked to have seen the husband explain the reasons for his leaving in the first place or at least an element of remorse for his actions. There is no mention of his mistress, or even his final relationship with his wife. A shame because I finished the book feeling let down instead of wanting more from this author.

Very perceptive - an excellent read.

I picked up this book in the book shop as I loved the front cover, and then the synopsis on the back seemed most apt to my personal situation.
I can only say I thought this book was truly wonderful, and the author seems to have considerable insight on the break-up of a supposedly long and "happy" marriage. I could relate very much with the main character, and the book has given me as much guidance as any "self-help" book could.
I now hope to read many more of Diana Appleyard's books.

A pick me up for tired housewives

I thoroughly enjoyed this, the first book I have read from Diana Appleyard. It is a book to curl up on the sofa with or take to bed for an early night - except that you will find it difficult to put down. I have made a list of the other books written by the author and look forward to reading my way through them all. I loved every minute of "Too Beautiful to Dance".
