Lee Weatherly is a gem of a writer, yet to be discovered

I read this after finishing Child X, Lee Weatherly's other behind-the-news novel and I am flabbergasted that I have heard such little fuss about this talented writer. Missing Abby gripped me from beginning to end, it has sympathetic characters, the ins and outs of a powerful story, and a genuine emotional core that lingers long after one has read the last pages of the book. Both Child X and Missing Abby deserve critical kudos. Lee Weatherly is a truly fab writer, a gem that all young readers should discover

Missing Abby...An Amazing Book

This book was absoulutly AMAZING. The plot was so clever bringing fantasy games to real life.
Emma had problems at her old school and started again in a new school with a new start-including ditching her old friend, Abby.
But all those old memories come back when Abby goes missing...and Emma was the last one to see her.
I have never actually cried at a book before but this one had me close!

Gripping and insightful to the end

As another reviewer has said, this book is more than just a well put together plot with good characters. The central character, Emma, has a 'history' with Abby. Since they stopped being friends, Emma has tried to turn herself into a different person - she is afraid that her new friends will not understand her secret liking for fantasy games because of what happened at her old school.
When Abby disappears, Emma is forced to make contact with her old life, and she discovers that it's impossible to change who you are deep down.
Alongside this character journey is an extremely gripping plot - has Abby been kidnapped? killed? had an accident? When you do finally find out what happened to her, I confess I had a tear in my eye. The consequences are dealt with very movingly.
A great story, with everything a young reader could ask for in a book.

A fantastic follow up to a fantastic debut

I have read three different drafts of this book as lee weatherly involved me and some of my friends in the writing process and seeing how she achieved the wonderful finished product shows how much work needs to go into something like this. The story line is one that is close to the hearts of many people as there have been many child abductions and the subject is still quite sensitive. Lee Weatherly manages to deal with it in style and you really end up empathasizing with Emma and Abby because of their lost relationship which needn't have ended. This book is packed full of heart rending moments and brimming with pathos. I know the front cover is a girly one, and i don't think that does it justice because i read it without a cover at all and it think that both male and female audiences should read this. Well done Lee on another fantastic book PS. Child X was stunning too

A Must Read

I read this book and found it so gripping that I could not put it down. It made me cry and I really enjoyed it!
The author has made this book a really good read. I recomended it to my mum, Who also read it- and cried!

A must read for 10 years and over.
