A beautiful retelling of the nativity story with rich realistic illustrations
|
This book is a Christmas work of art with rich deep and realistic pictures perfectly aligned with lyrical poetical text. Each double page adds an element to the traditional nativity story in a clear and simple way, developing in the way that `this is the house that Jack built' does:
This is the inn where the only room
Was a stable out in the lamplit gloom/
For the donkey and his precious load
Who trudged the long and weary road/
Looked on by angel shining bright
Who came to shepherds, watching by night/
That saw the star in the sky. etc.
It's a timeless classic and I thoroughly recommend it.

This is a truly wonderful little book. The pictures are wonderfully life-like and the poetic text, leading the reader through the Christmas story, beautifully written. This little book is a pleasure to read for adults as well as children. I have bought several copies of this book for friend's children and they all absolutely love it.

The illustrations in this book are truely beautiful and incredibly life-like. The narative is simple and poetic but profound in telling the Christmas story. I would warmly recommend this as a great book to sit down and read with children over the Christmas period, and you'll love it too! A real 'gem' revealing the true meaning of Christmas in verse and art.

This is the Star

In my opinion this is the most stunning nativity book ever! The paintings are weighty with wonder and mystery. You find yourself gazing more and more into the scenes before you. You feel like you're there - at least you want to be! The kings - WOW! Tiny Jesus lying in the straw ... amazing. What a fantastic book. HIGHLY recommended.

The Christmas story beautifully written and illustrated.

This is just the job for reading to a young child. Each page adds more story content in increasing steps, while keeping the difficulty of the text at an easily understood level. The illustrations are realistic - people look like real people, so do the animals, and there are'nt any haloes or other distracting adult concepts.
