Take it with a pinch of salt!

I read this book long before I had my son, and really enjoyed it, so decided to re-read it once I became a Mum to see if I would appreciate a different angle.
Although it's still a good read, ladies that have not had babies yet, don't let this book put you off! Yes, it's hard, and life changing, but not everyone (nobody in my experience) is still sitting around six months later in their husbands old clothes, crying, moping and sitting around the house breast feeding all day long!
Great book, but take it as the light hearted read that it is, not a manual!

Witty, accurate and fun!

Having read this book for a second time whilst heavily pregnant, I would highly recommend this fabulous book to all. The heroine, Bella, appears superficially perfect, with glamourous looks, a wonderful lifestyle and a top management consultant job; however, pregnancy and the birth of her son causes strain on her marriage and self-esteem. The dilemmas Bella faces throughout the book will appeal the the majority of readers and the childbirth chapters aren't for the easily shocked!
Overall, a fantastic, intelligent read.

Entertaining...but still fiction

I'm glad I read this book once I was a mother, not before!!! There is a lot of well-described, harsh reality of pregnancy, relationships and motherhood. Once you're a mum you can laugh and enjoy it but I'd imagine it'd scare the life out of me beforehand! What I didn't like was the underlying message (I suppose for fiction/entertainment) that everything can fall apart and until the mother gets her act together, the little family can't work.

Brutal but honest!

I thought this book was so good I read it twice! I was pregnant the first I read it and it scared the hell out of me. The second time I read it was a year later and all I could do was laugh. It brought back fond labour memories. The book also brings about the sharp reality of how motherhood changes a woman. From a city slicker to a stay home Mum - we read about the journey that Bella takes through motherhood. I would totally recommend this book. It is the best book Carmen Reid has written.

FANTASTIC READ

I haven't read such a good book in a long time and since I am trying to get pregnant was more homed into the subject. I loved every bit of the book and could hardly put the book down as was so addicted to it. I have even gotten my husband to read the giving birth part to help him realise exactly how painful giving birth to a baby can be (via words). I would highly recommend this to any mother future or present for a highly entertaining read.
