Republished - and showing its age
|
Read this book - and wonder how Jilly Cooper every became a best-selling author.
Republishing a book written over 20 years ago is fine if it's a classic, but this isn't, and it should not have been reissued without being updated.
This book falls between two stools. If it had been written in the 1940s, it would have had novelty value, and might have been of some historical interest. If it had been written in 2007, it would at least have had the virtue of being contemporary. As it is, it's just a dated book that should have been allowed to rest in peace!

Don't bother buying this book!
|
This book is incredibly dated-to the point of irrelevancy. For example, One of the solutions to the problem of arguments over T.V is to 'hire a video machine so programmes can be recorded'!
It is also very cliched, and only seems to apply to people who could be characters in Jilly Cooper novels!
Do not waste your money on this-unless you are maybe a time traveller to 1985.

How to Survive Christmas
|
|
I read this book every year at the beginning of December to prepare me for the horrors of Christmas, and it never fails to make me laugh. The illustrations are brilliant and the Christmas family she has created seem a fairly typical one. Her observations are very accurate and it makes for a lovely bit of lighthearted reading on the run up to Christmas. I love this book!!
