a work of true scholarship
|
This book and the others in the series are works of great scholarship. It is NOT a work of fiction (as Dan Brown). It is also not a work that strugglea to extract some startling "new truth" from the gospels as they have come down to us through many generations of editing / mistranslation / downright fraudulant invention by the powerful church orthodoxy. Instead it uses an entirely new approach to uncover the real story of events. If you read the dead sea scrolls you will discover that most of them were written by the political / religious enemies of Jesus. Luckily within them are some documents that are like a Rosetta stone. They are are scripts written in the same style of the Gospels ie flowery and obscure language that can hide many different meanings but included with them is a 'crib' of the real meaning. When the rules of writing this mystery writing are wpplied to the gospels there springs out an astonishing array of facts and a story that shattters ths the myths of the church. The story revealed is very complex but is totally consistent and realtivly easy to check. IT will change your view of Jesus. He was a person of great stature but a human struggling with the politacal and religious problems of the day.
Some of it is very funny when you come to realise the real meaning of the 'miracles'. You will see that none of them were supernatural but an "astonishing" breaking of the religious rules by Jesus. No wonder they wanted him dead and the church has been trying to kill the rruth ever since.
