Editorial Reviews:
All the usual ingredients of a Danielle Steel novel are satisfyingly in place in The Kiss: sensitively handled romance, conflict and even tragedy, and Steel aficionados will be in the proverbial seventh heaven. It's a surprise to realise that this is her 53rd novel, but there's never a sense of the material becoming over-familiar: Steel has an ironclad ability to surprise the reader with the dramatic developments of her plots.

The heroine of The Kiss is Isabelle Forrester, married to Gordon, a highly successful Parisian banker. This is a joyless marriage, with both partners maintaining a façade that conceals the lack of feeling between them. But Isabelle will not abandon the relationship, as she depends on the financial support of her husband to care for their invalid son Teddy. Isabelle has learned to cope with her lonely existence, confiding in her only friend Bill Robinson, a deal-maker in Washington's upper echelons. Without Gordon's knowledge, the two become very close during their frequent, long-distance telephone conversations. When Isabelle accepts Bill's advice that she take a long overdue break in London, it is no surprise for her to find that a business trip takes him there the same weekend. They come together, and exchange an inevitable kiss. But tragedy awaits--a terrible car crash puts them both in intensive care. Can they recover from their injuries? And how do they deal with the mess their lives have become?

. Steel knows that the more she puts her characters through, the more we'll be involved--and this is the most extreme of her novels in some time. But we come to care about Bill and Isabelle, and few who begin The Kiss will be in a hurry to finish it; this is a world that exerts a total grip. --Barry Forshaw

Customer Reviews:
The Kiss
Isabelle Forrester is the wife of a banker who is no longer in love. Isabelle lives in isolation with one secret pleasure a long-distance friendship by telephone with a Washington power broker who, like Isabelle, is trapped in a loveless marriage. This is one of the best ds books ive read so far.
The Kiss
As usual Danielle brings her readers deep into the depth of utter dispear with this great book, and then when you think hope is gone she manages to turn the story around. I am currently collecting all of Danielle's books and she has not let me down yet with any of them! They are all fab!!
A good book - worth a read
This is the first book I have read of Danielle Steels and I enjoyed it, although I do agree with a previous review that it was a bit unrealistic in parts, but I would read it again, since reading it I have gone on to read other books by Danielle Steel.
Not one of Danielle Steel's best books!
At first I thought this was going to be Princess Diana's death thinly disguised in fiction, however I was wrong (this couple didn't die!) Ms Steel is losing it I think, I found this book very repetitive, I did, in fact, state out loud at one point "ok I get the point" The book could've been shortened by half without the repetition. It was basically an ok story, but a bit unrealistic (I cant think of any hospital keeping you in intensive care when you are able to walk about and sleep together - beds pushed together! I don't think so!!) I finished the book but was glad I borrowed it to read and didn't spend money on it. I buy loads of books and have most of Danielle Steels I might add, but unless she regains her previous form I'll wait to borrow them from now on.
One you can't put down
This is the first book I read from Danille Steel and how discriptive. Not to mention it seems as though you just jump from your life into Bill and Isabell's life. Just like you are watching something happen live. When their car is hit by a bus, you think the worst. Oh my god what happens to them and their families and kids etc... But then their families find out about the accident and to me it was like a sweater coming unraveled. You never know what will happen next. Will they live?? What about their spouses and kids. Will they end up together? You don't know what will happen but in the end...Can't give it away! Read it and you will find out what I'm talking about.
