I have fallen in love with a new author... JILLY COOPER. She's amazing. I love her tone, characters, sense of romance, and wild bloody fun. He work is just fabulous. I find her refreshing and just plain fun. This work circles around the two stories of Emily and Bella. Each tales weaves a wild and fun room of love and charm. Her work is so full of humor and truth. She has been called teh "Jane Austen" of our time.. now, I think that is impossible, as Jane is the ultimate best, but's she pretty darm close. Get all of Jilly's books... she very talented.

Jilly is as good as ever

Like the last reviewer noted, Jilly paved the way for all the CHick Lit around today. And despite the fact that she wrote these romantic comedies ages ago, they are still incredibly readable and charming. I don't know how she does it, but Jilly has a gift for gluing you to a book. I just couldn't put these down. Both were sweet, funny (some hysterical, laugh-out-loud one-liners), touching and true-to-life. If you liked Bridget Jones, try the books that paved the way!

Enjoyable

Okay, so as they were originally written a couple of decades ago, they can be a little dated, but it is books like these which have paved the way for the more popular authors today, right? It's great that they publish these books now in a double edition because they are relatively short stories and so can't really compete with the lengths of some current blockbusters, but I feel it is ironic to have placed the stories of Harriet and Octavia in the same book. After all, they are completely contrasting characters - Harriet a relative innocent who has found herself pregnant and alone; Octavia, a scheming beauty determined to steal a friend's fiance, and even able to justify her own actions. What is even more ironic, however, is that I can feel sorry for both of them, almost equally! These stories are witty, and funny, and unputdownable, and not quite as "horsey" as her bonkbusters! Read this book, you will enjoy it!
