A masterpiece

Book four in the 5-book saga. The entire saga is a Masterpiece in fantasy-writing. To be compared with Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. This a must for all fantasy-lovers. Eddings writes with style and humour. A true Master.

Just brilliant like all the others in the series

What can i say? Eddings is just the greatest modern novelist of all time in terms of making you part of his novels. You feel for the characters in everything that they do and say and i know i felt very sad when i finished them all. I would say this one is one of my favouties out of all of those in the series. The battle sequences are just superb. Ive read both the belgariad and the mallorean (and every other book to do with this series) 3 times already and engourage you to do the same.

A well written, enjoyable novel.

The castle of wizardry is an enjoyable and engrossing read. Many people have stated that its tone and content are rather 'young',but I find that the simplicity serves only to enhance the plot. With each new character Eddings adds new twists. It is something of a risk, however, to add a new main figure but Eddings has sniffed at this rule and introduced,by the fourth book, nearly 18 other main characters .This could make or break a novel,in this case,it made it.I was intrigued by each character and I look forward to the battle against Torak, and the fulfillment of the prophecy!

left me begging for more

This book and the others in the series had me absolutely fascinated, my books went everywhere with me until I had finished them, I loved the way each one tied up neatly and then yet another twist in the storyline. There was always something more.

Very entertaining

This is book number four in the series entitled The Belgariad......Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, Magician's Gambit, Castle of Wizardry and Enchanter's End Game making up the series....and for full enjoyment, they must be read in that order. As with the previous three books, Castle of Wizardry continues the story of Garion, his aunt, the might sorceress Polgara and his "ultimate" grandfather Belgarath's quest to find the Orb, with a host of lovable characters providing loads of laughs and distractions along the way. The series is well written, entertaining and absorbing, although, coming back to it now having initially read it more than a decade ago as a 15 year old, I find the tone rather "young"...but this does not distract me from renewing acquaintances with old friends. Many questions are left unanswered at the end of the series and I remember haunting my local bookstore and library waiting for the Mallorean to be published.....luckily, new readers to Eddings works won't have to wait as long as I did! And, yes, all questions are answered.......all in all, a most enjoyable, engrossing read.
