Sheer Brilliance From The Master!

The Billy Wilder/Charles Brackett creative team was arguably the greatest screenwriting partnership in Hollywood's history. With this book, it is easy to see why they stood head and shoulders above the rest, both in their time and in the present day. Lines such as "We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!" have rightly entered into Hollywood history as deserved classics. This screenplay, co-written with D.M. Marshman Jr. in 1949 has a few differences to the dialogue in the film which just shows how improvisational ideas were allowed to develop at the time. The introduction by Jeffrey Meyers is very informative and fascinating as his obvious affinity for his subject rubs off on you. Overall, this classic script is well worth the asking price as (like the film itself), it is something you'll want to return to time and time again.
