Customer Reviews:
Ultimate Hitchhiker Guide: 6 Stories 5 Complete Novels.
Excellent book from an excellent seller.
The book is 5 in one and one more short story. Douglas Adams of course is superb in his writing, it would appear he writes as he thinks rather thank composition for publishing. I like this style as it is easy to read and true to life. I have almost collected all his books, and as i do not read much in the way of books that is a recommendation in itself. Thanks for the entertainment and a fun read. A book that can be read again and again, there will always be bits you missed last time.
Pure Brilliance
As you begin to read the story the complexity of the tale unfolds. Adams has written a massive story that you can interpret on many levels. From "what to do if your planet get's unexpectedly demolished" to "the meaning of life" and "the difficulties you must overcome in order to time travel". I love it, and would _highly_ recommend it to anyone.
A satire of Sci.fi...and a Pinteresque cosmic drama
Fundamentally, there are three levels on which this basilar masterpiece of fin-de -siecle literature can be read: 1)A scorching satire of the loci communes of bad sci.fi.The Alien among us,alien attacks, lost in Space, cosmic menaces, Obi-wan-kenobi/Slartibartfast,the hero who single-handedly saves the Universe...all the usual suspects are there,to make you laugh. 2)An existential ,philosophical tale of Man's place in the Cosmos, and the Meaning of Life. These themes, although treated sardonically, are there.Arthur Dent reminds some of Pinter's charachters,so does Marvin;the cold flippancy of Ford Prefect makes a stark contrast whit the introverted mind of Arthur and the manic egotism of Zaphod. It is a strange, poetic Universe, the human mind, and Douglas Adams is a master poet of strangeness. 3)Logic Paradox level.Mr.Adam's twisted logic is a feast to the mind.Improbability Drive,Bistromatic, the linguistic problems of time-travel...read and enjoy! I've cited three levels, but there are others. To the novices of the Hitch-Hiker's saga,I say:Don't Panic!
Freeeeeeeeeeoooooowwwww!!!!!!
"6*9=42?"

"I always knew there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe."

This is the tale of what to do in the off chance that the Earth will be demolished ostensibly to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. Well, it isn't. But what does it matter? It's about what Arthur Dent does when the Earth is demolished ostensibly to make way for a new hyperspace bypass.

It's also a story about life, the universe and everything, the origin of mattresses, Marvin the Paranoid Android, and some guy with two heads, three arms, and a fashion sense that would force anyone to smash their brains out with a rather large, gold brick - or try a Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster, or even enter the Total-Perspective Vortex, if you spend too much time with him.

Find out why we are so upset because of small, green pieces of paper - which is odd, because, on the whole, it isn't these small, green pieces of paper that are unhappy. Maybe, what the ultimate answer to Life, the Universe and Everything is. Maybe, oddly enough, you may decide to listen to a Vogon's poetry. Perhaps even that of an Azgoth of Kria - but never of Paul Neil Milne Johnstone of Redbridge, Essex. Perhaps you'll die and go to Southend. Who knows. After all, "in an infinite universe, anything, even the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is possible."

Mind-Bogginly amazing!
This book taught me alot. I've learned alot about the mysteries of the universe. It changed all my life prespective. I've learned to be optimistic... not be in panic all the time... cause it doesn't really worth it. The book includes alot of the most bizzare and nutty stuff that you've and you'll ever read. I recommend it for anyone who loves sci-fi and not just them. That book really gets to any human being. It has the most craziest (but still can fit to a human logic) life philosophy that you'll ever find around our neighborhood in the universe. I recommand that every creature who actually calls himself a human being should read this book. And don't forget to get yourself a towel to start your journey around the cosmic sorrounding... or you will soon find yourself lost in the vicinity of Margarethea...
