Kimono pictures for the devote'.
|
|
This is essentially a picture book. After a short introduction the book consists of a series of full page plates, each displaying one kimono and a short note of its description, use, and date. Each garment is displayed from the back with sleeves splayed. The patterns are beautiful and intricate, some stylized, other depicting realistic flowers, birds, and people. Though the pictures are large, the book contains very little imformation about wearing the clothes. (In fact, the introduction itself admits they are presented as art, not apparel.) The one drawback to the book is that the photos are taken from a source originally published in the 1930's and so are neither as bright or as clear as I would like. Still, I'm glad I bought the book.
