An introductory text to the field
|
|
William Marshall and his colleagues have written extensively about sex offending for many years and are the experts in this field, without a doubt. This is an introductory text that is a must to those clinicians entering the sexual offending field. I was particularly impressed with their approaches to treatment and avoidance of authoritative, self-serving, purely confrontational approaches and what they had to say about treatment that attempted to assist and help the offender. Many pedophiles, one must always realise, do not for a second want to "be pedophiles", they have the unfortunate affliction. The text staves away from the leper mentality of locking sex offenders for ever.
