clear helper to your goal

This book is a well organised, reasonably priced and clear exposition of what Roxio 8 can do for you in terms of burning DVD's and CD's. With this book you can learn to use photo-editing software, create computer backups, create mp3 CD's and DVD's, manipulate '`AVI''- files in terms of both the picture editing and sound manipulation. You can create data -DVD's which is so easy. The list is great for an amateur and you can get the suite to install.
If you can move from 'Roxio Easy Media Creator (7)' to version 8, this edition is much better to use, and it's more capable. So its not unreasonable to suggest you may need a bit of guidance to help?
I recommend reading it from cover -to -cover at least twice before undertaking a project. Then read what you want to do a few times before using it to guide you and then use the book to 'zoom-in' to that which you really want. The plentiful supplies of pictures in the book are B&W screen-shots but are clear enough to help you see what's going on.
For example, the mine of information shows the following as an example of what's available, albeit you sometimes need to read it a few times to get it. After rendering `AVI' videos or jpeg pictures with 'Videowave' you can use `MyDVD' to create DVD's to store these projects on. This time with Roxio 8, unlike Roxio 7, I learned that the main menu title background is restricted to a series of customisable templates, with restricted menus access (say just up and looped back to the beginning again). I found out with this book, when you trial the menus with 'preview' in 'MYDVD', you need to rearrange the titles by trial- and -error until the menus work in sequence you want. Also I learned with this book its required to make all the menu titles on these templates the same length in the number of characters used, else you will not be able to access them. It's so easy when you know how!
I feel this book is cheaper than ringing 'Roxio' helping lines. Also if you out for a learning curve, it will try and help you create say photo-archives, movie DVD's and others which the less-technically minded members of your relatives tend to enjoy. Although Roxio 8 this may not the most technically competent Media editing software there is on the market, it can help you create memories using family photographs of times sorely missed often by those no longer here.
