Customer Reviews:
fairly good but not brilliant
This book is fairly good, but has clearly been rushed to publication, to coincide with the new format A+ exams, leading to various deficiencies.

The writing style changes suddenly (there are 3 authors) and the writing is fairly awful in places. Great literature it is not. The geek rating is off the scale - there are many laugh-out-loud moments for the socially-adjusted reader as you sense the authors' genuine excitement about various extremely-tedious-though-useful "technologies".

There are a small number of number of errors in the tests. This isn't a big problem. Worse, quite a few of the questions are sloppily written. For example, the answer to "The lowest voltage shock that can be felt by a human is ...?" is "3000V". Don't go and stick your finger in the 240V socket though - they omitted the word "electrostatic" from the question.

As in most American books there is zero awareness of the other 95% of the world. For example, the answer to "What are the two common cellular standards?" is "GSM and CDMA". No mention of "only in America".

Overall it is a useful book, but not a "complete study guide" as claimed. It isn't good enough to be your only source. Use in conjunction with the other A+ books available.

Apart From Errors, Great Book - Error Guide Below!!!

I have to say i was very dissapointed to hear that there were errors in the CD-ROM before i even got to test it. Well, after some reseach on the net i found the details of the problem and how to fix it.
Firstly you have to contact the support section of the manufacturer
http://wiley.custhelp.com/
There is a link on the left stated "CompTIA A+ Complete Study Guide
To obtain corrected test engine click here"
It'll take you to a topic where someone has complained about the problem.
Click the "Live Chat" link at the top of the page to speak to a support member, they will tell you The version of the Test Engine that is on the CD-ROM has a compatibility issue with the latest version of Flash Player.
If you supplied a valid email before using live chat they will send the modified version of the test engine to it otherwise supply a different email address. Apart from that issue a great in depth book.

Hope that helps
Errors in the Book and CD
The guide is quite good, covers most of the subjects up to a reasonable level and it is one of the first to cover the new A+ exams.

There are three downsides to this product:

1) The guide misses out on some key areas that the exam covers.
2) There are a handful of errors contained in the end of chapter tests.
3) The CD contains some mock-tests that do not work correctly.
