An excellent book
|
This book does exactly what is says on the cover. It provides a clear and concise introduction to a wide range of cardiac conditions and interventions. Each of the chapters covers a distinct area of cardiac care, looking at things like pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, and treatments. The evidence used within each chapter is really up-to-date, and loads of references are provided for further reading. My only minor criticism is that a few more diagrams would have been useful.
Overall, this is highly recommended for students and novices wanting an accessible introduction to the subject of cardiac care, and I'm sure that more experienced healthcare workers will also find it useful.

A great introduction to cardiac care
|
As someone who was unsure about many aspects of cardiology, this book is exactly what I was looking for.
The chapters cover a wide range of subjects, giving a clear overview of the causes of disease and the most up-to-date treatments. One of the great features of the book is the amount of supporting evidence. Anyone wanting to explore a specific subject in greater depth is provided with a huge number of references for further reading. I've just got a couple of minor gripes - a glossary of terms would have been useful, as would a few more pictures.
Overall though, this is an invaluable guide for a novice like me, but would also be a really useful book for anyone who looks after cardiac patients.
