Customer Reviews:
don't waste your money
Whilst this makes for a moderately interesting read, this book really doesn't change anything about the way you think, even though I have put some of his suggestions into practice. Read it for interest only, but please don't hold out any hope of it unleashing any of the hidden brainpower within you!
Why do so many people praise this book?
I got this book only on the basis that everyone seems to praise it but in reality it doesnt tell you much at all. If you have seen a mind map before this preaty much won't be any help at all. It only has a few mindmaps and his discription for them is simply that they are good for revising and he preaty much goes on about that for half of the book. There is only 10 pages on chapter 9 which might be classed as useful everythinhg else is either just babble or about his past success stories.

Am I readinding the same book as all these people because I can't see what fascinates them about it. This is only good if you want general knowlwedge on the brain. Mind maps are great but shame he doesn't go in any detail about techinques and how to use them. A better book is Page-a-minute memory book.

The best book on learning and studying (by miles)
This is the best, most helpful and most useful book on learning and study skills that I have read. Although the first edition was published in 1974 and received great acclaim, as well as scientific evidence to back it up, a lot of the methods and techniques described here are still not widely used. In addition this version has also been updated since then so you should find plenty of ways of improving your studying, learning memory and reading skills.
Although I have always found reading easy and never had any problems in the past there were still a few helpful tips in this section. The rest of the book was extremely helpful for all aspects of learning and studying. I felt that it helped me get much more out of work-related training and courses that I've been sent out on.
I have been learning Russian in my spare time and it has helped me to do this more effectively and get more out of the time that I put in, despite my initial reservations that some of the techniques might not be so helpful for language-learning.
The ONLY book you need on study / learning
On my last order I purcahed amongst others, 3 books on study techniques. One of them ofcourse being this book, unfourtunaly one can say I read this book first.
The book covered no special direction in studying, college, university, at home, at work ... It was facinating to learn/understand how the mind processes infomation, so you can serve the information to it as the mind prefers it!

the book cover some great aspects:

*How to read activly
*Evaluating WHAT to read
*Creating mind-maps

*Recalling information
*Reading faster

All layed out in a easy to follow pace and intresting. I read the entire book in one evening.
The next day I discovered I didn't need the two other books on study skills... just wasted 20£, thats why it was unfortunate that I read this book first :) Anyway I read the two books (I mean I had bought them) like I learned from Tony Buzan. I finished them both in one evening... And a whole suitcase of confidence, ready to take on far more complicated books. Now I know how and what to read, and remember what i read.

I highly recomend this book to everyone considering learning anything (that should cover most of us).

A must for students!
This is a reaaly great book. Unlike some of the others I've read it's really straight forward and easy to apply and it builds up your confidence too! Will be testing the theories in my upcoming exams. So if anyone is worrying about revising for exams buy this book!
