I am a quite normal everyday guy who now has Ambition

I chanced across this book (Atlas Shrugged)in a second hand book shop, I bought it on a whim and it has given me such a lust to achieve that I intend to ensure that the ideas held in this book are at least presented to my children when they are old enough to understand. I won't force them one way or another and you really will either love or hate it. It depends a lot on how you lean politically, but do not assume you are wrong for being right or left of centre, though extremes are negative their core principles may not be. This book will teach you or anger you..... An unsung classic?

A TRIBUTE TO THE HEROIC WITHIN MAN!
Two outstanding novels that will inspire all those who oppose dictatorship, slavery ( service to others as the moral justification to one's existence) and all forms of collectivist ideology. Ayn Rand's unique philosophy Objectivism, provides excellent ammunition against contemporary intellectual "mystics" who preach that an individual's life, work and identity are the property of the "group",( whether a "race", "class", "state", or "religion" etc.) and that self-sacrifice,(the surrender of that which one values in favour of that which one does not value), should be upheld as the "moral ideal". Objectivism provides a valid alternative to modern philosophy's attempts to enslave and destroy man's conceptual faculty, these novels will offer you the chance to believe in the concept of man as an heroic, independent, benevolent being; with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, (neither sacrificing himself to others nor others to himself),with productive achievement as his noblest activity and reason his only absolute.

A must-read for anyone with an open mind

Expounding Ayn Rand's personal philosophy (which is detailed in the short book We The Living) these novels are unshamedly romantic and idealistic. The heroes and heroines are noble and will not accept second-best, for which the mediocre majority hates them and tries to tear them down. These timeless parables are surprisingly un-put-downable, given their length. I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone who seeks, or has found, peace at who they are.

An exciting discovery for all Rand fans:
If you enjoy Rand, I direct you to another "Randlike" novel,THE LAST DAY, by Glenn Kleier. In THE LAST DAY, Kleier tackles the subject of authority in organized religion with startling "Ayn Rand" objectivism and outrageous wit and irreverence. LAST DAY is a classic, watershed novel in the manner of FOUNTAINHEAD and SHRUGGED. I found it a riveting read, and one that I greatly encourage all Rand fans to experience.

On the short list of life-changing novels
If the reader posses the depth of intelligence and freedom from biases necessary to understand and accept, if not the absolute truth of Rand's beliefs, the possibility that her philosophy is valid; then these novels can deliver an emotional and spiritual change visible in everyday life. These novels can endow a love for life and desire to push oneself to greatness; combined with a respect, not for intelligence or beauty or skill, but for those attributes well used. In short a respect for competence that makes the world around you seem a triumph. Though you may feel surrounded by idiocy, laziness and deception you can look to the highways, or the buildings around you, or at the computer on your desk, or, of course, at a work of art, or a masterpiece of literature, and you see and think of the great strides that man has made and how wonderous and boundless our minds can be. These books do not necessarily negate all charity or any belief in God. What they do refute is the infantilization of man and the belittling of man's greatness for the benefit of those unwilling to help themselves.
