Editorial Reviews:
Eve Karpf reads veteran children's author Jacqueline Wilson's The Lottie Project in this unabridged three-cassette pack. This is the story of Charlie, a bright and happy young girl on the brink of change, told with a brilliant combination of comedy, poignancy and a touch of history.

For her Victorian history project, Charlie hits upon the idea of writing the diary of Lottie, a young Victorian serving girl. When her mother, Jo, loses her job as a shop manageress and starts work as a cleaner, Charlie's previously happy and comfortable lifestyle is threatened and she finds that her own hardships and struggles are not so different from Lottie's.

The Lottie Project is at once entertaining and intelligent. By eloquently capturing Charlie's anxiety as she faces up to her new and uncertain future, Wilson's talent for taking an important topic and treating it with respect and humour as she pushes her characters forward is again harnessed in this touching, human story.

Running time is four hours 40 minutes. --Susan Harrison

The Lottie Project is about Charlie's history project.

At school the boys tease Charlie and call her Cake because Charlotte Alice Katherine Enright and her initials are C.A.K.E. so you now know why she is teased. Furthermore, she is called carrot cake because she had ginger hair. Charlie is looking at something in a book when a photo of a look alike is spotted. Charlie decides to write a diary about the life of Lottie which is based on fact but mainly the journal is fictional. Lottie has a big but very poor family and has to leave to help pay for things for her underprivileged family. While Charlie and Jo, her mum and her live in a comfortable flat until mums job is finished. She struggles with her new jobs and is in trouble...

I would rate this book 9.5/10 and I think this book is suitable for 9 - 13 year olds. Over all I think this is a good book which you should definitely read!

A Interesting and Funny Story!!!!
This story is about a girl named Charlotte. Charlotte hates it when everyone calls her by her real name, so they call her "Charlie". Charlie lives with her mother, Jo and her Grandparents. Her grandparents didn't want Charlie and Jo to live with them so they (Charlie and Jo) move into a new apartment. When school starts, she gets a new teacher named Miss Beckworth and she makes Charlie sit with the smartest boy in there class named Jamie, instead of letting her sit with her two best friends, Angela and Lisa. Unfortunetly, she doesn't like Jamie. She hates all boys ever since her father left her mother. When Miss Beckworth assigns the class a Victorian history project, Charlie decides to write about a Victorian girl named Lottie, who works in a nursery to support her family. Latter in the story, Jo loses her job. She goes in search for another job and she meets a man named Mark, and they fall in love. When Jo, Charlie, Mark and Mark's son, Robin, go to "Red River" together, Charlioe finds out that they kissed and she becomes furious because she didn't want Mark for a dad. So she tells Robin that his father doesn't want him anymore and Robin's upset. In the middle of the night in Marks home, Mark finds out that Robin has gone missing. If you want to find out what happens to Robin, you will have to read the story.

I really enjoyed this book very much. I loved the ending of the story and I didn't like it when Jamie kisses Charlie's cheek. I recomend this book to everyone. If you will ever read this book, I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
