Customer Reviews:
very good book
This is the first book of the series of deltora quests. the book tells you about leaf's background and his fathers past. when leaf and barda are sent to restore the gems and place them in the belt to finally over through the dark lord. In the forest the two companions meet a third: Jasmine. also they are faced with the duty of getting the topaz out, but they have to get past the guard first. the whole series is quite emotional becaues leaf is away from his parents and has no idea of whats going to happen in the last breath taking book.

BUY THIS BOOK IT IS AMAZING!!!!!.

Highly recommended by both parent and child!
If you have a child under 12 who loves Harry Potter, he or she will be delighted with this series. A friend in Australia sent The Forests of Silence to my son for his 8th birthday and we've both been completely captivated. The characters are simply drawn and the plot is straightforward and engaging (strongly good vs. evil), with plenty of "how can they possibly get out of this one?!" moments. My son reads well, but he's not often motivated to read a book himself--he'd usually rather have me read to him. These books are exciting enough to keep him reading on his own. Together, we went through the first book in less than a week and are now on the third (of 8). Rather like Harry Potter, the main, heroic characters are two males and a very capable girl and her animal friends, which adds interest for female readers. There are a lot of monsters, and my son found some of the situations a bit frightening, but we haven't had any nightmares over it. (Parents of younger children might want to beware of this, though.) I like the moral tone of the stories (all the adventure is in aid of a great cause), with emphasis on courage, honour and loyalty while overcoming great obstacles. Some of the plot is rather obvious to me, but these books are perfect for young readers.
Fantastic book - great series
This is a great read, it is a mystical book - you never know what's happening next. It is set on the Island of Deltora ,which has been taken over by the evil Shadow Lord. Three companions set out to recover the 7 gems which have been taken from the belt of Deltora to try and restore peace to the Kingdom. I think any 9 to 13 year old would love this book.
