Jane Eyre is one of the most intriging(as well as one of the longest)books I have ever read. To be honest I didn't particually want to read it at first. We were on holliday in Spain and we were at the beach. I couldn't go swimming because of a broken arm so I bought the only English book in the local bookshop. I found the opening chapters of child abuse very sad but interesting. Then when orphaned Jane Eyre left Gateshead and went to Lowood bording school, the book became less interesting until she met her friend. Then her friend died and Jane grew up and became the govorness to a French girl at the large home of Mr.Rochester.Once Jane falls in love with him the plot becomes very predictable but becomes brilliant when the insane woman enters the book and even more so when her identity is revealled by Edward Rochester. Jane Eyre is a very well thought out love story but is not a "Lovey Dovey" story. I do think that Charlotte Bronte did carry the book on a bit to long because in certain chapters you find your mind wandering almost as far as the plot. Overall I think if you are not used to reading Victorian style books with Victorian wording then you will be dissapointed with Jane Eyre.
