Amazingly encompassing

An amazingly encompassing read. Lee Edelman manages to historicise a theory of textual graphesis, demonstrating that a queer reading is just as worthy of hermeneutics as its taken-for-granted counterpart. Weaving through James Baldwin, AIDS activism, Renaissance sodomy, post-WWII historical landmarks, the presentational gaze and Cold War cinema among other topics, this book is both enriching and endearing. Chapter Eight, on Lacanian 'Bushusuru', is a marvel. From experience, it is also an excellent starting point for dinner parties among postgrads.
