Abysmal
The author seems to vacillate between paying lip service to the suffering experienced by people living with ME/CFS and blaming them for their illness. It's a badly-written, poorly-researched, and confusing book, and to me its only virtue was that it set out the stall of those practitioners who subscribe to the psychosocial disease model. Worth reading if you're affected by ME/CFS and want a quick overview of the assumptions that that particular medical faction makes about its patients; but if you're a practitioner and want to learn about what you patients are actually going through so that you might help them cope then Byron Hyde's 'The Clinical and Scientific Basis of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome' is still the best and most comprehensive book around and is the one that rings true to those affected by the condition.

Useful and comprehensive
This book takes the reader through the process of assessing and treating patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [CFS] using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT] methods.
Although aimed at practitioners it is also very readable for CFS patients and their carers.
The author gives a huge amount of help and advice on managing and minimising the effects of this disabling long term illness while showing empathy and compassion for sufferers.
I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in CFS or CBT.
