Customer Reviews:
Excellent murder mystery with interesting hero and villan
Blair Walker has done an excellent job creating a believable character and hero, Darryl Billups the reporter, who I could really relate to as an African American professional. The plot of "Hidden in Plain View" is very fascinating and the murder method of the serial killer is completely original! Once into it, I could barely put the book down. I am now ready for the NEXT Darryl Billups mystery! A special thanks goes to Blair Walker for coming out and discussing his novel with our Book Club. It definitely provided us a new perspective on the book and writing in general.
Well written and you feel as if your right there.
I read Mr. Walkers first book, and couldn't wait for his next adventure. Hidden in Plain View is well written and fast reading. Mr. Walkers contemporary writing style is a breath of fresh air. I only hope that his books are feature as must reads.

Don't blow your chance to get to know this new a wonder Afro-American author. It will trully be your loss.

This book is a must read!

This was pure enjoyment!
Only read this book if U want to be entertained! Blair Walker did a masterful job with the hero Darryl Billups and a newspaper reporter---turned sleuth role. We can identify with the realness of his character and how he deals with his lady, her son, and her crazy sister. He takes his time, showing us a peak at the murder in different stages of schizophrenia. Mabye you won't be fooled by the the ohvious ploys to take you off the scent of the real killer but you would never imagine the method used and why it works! This is a fun book with plenty of action, sex, and intriguing characters. I read it and decided I MUST read the first one and any others as soon as they come off the presses!
This was a unique, enjoyable book from a black author
I got this book in the mail by accident, because I wanted the Hidden In Plain View about African American quilts. I'm glad about the mixup, though, because I had never heard of Blair Walker. This brother definitely has a fresh writing style and a different world view. And his main character, Darryl Billups, is witty and kind-hearted. I could relate to the way Darryl and his girlfriend Yolanda have a normal, loving, respectful black relationship, something you rarely see in literature. And sisters, you will not believe who is killing the buppies dying in this book. I didn't particularly care for the incest scene, but it did make a strong point about the killer. There were some other freaky things in the book, but they weren't objectionable. And I loved how the pace zips along without boring lulls. Blair Walker, you go boy!
A real treat
After solving a case involving Neo-Nazis, Baltimore Herald journalist Daryl Billups is quickly rising to the top of his profession. The paper has given the African-American crime reporter a promotion and a hefty raise, and he has become a local TV star.

Daryl reports on a serial killer whose African-American victims are found with decals of confederate flags all over their face. While most individuals quickly assume these are hate crimes, Daryl wonders if there might be a different motive to the murders. However, as Daryl begins his own inquiries, the killer hones in on the reporter, planning to add him to his rising count of murders.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, the second Daryl Billups mystery (see the delightful UP JUMPED THE DEVIL), is a very entertaining who-done-it. The story line requires some acceptance of the seemingly impossible. For instance, the instant "beaming" of Daryl from Baltimore to an Atlanta crime scene occurs faster than anyone could have even cleared Hartsfield's waiting area. However, those few instances fail to take away from the fast-paced, fast-paced, and enjoyable plot. Daryl remains a fabulous hero. The secondary players, especially the city of Baltimore, imbue the novel with a special warmth and depth. With novels like this one, Blair S. Walker will not remain hidden in plain view of the local bookstore.
