Try not to Laugh Sergeant Major

Written from a visiting journalist's point of view - having interviewed many ordinary "squaddies" and officers of various ranks, this is the truth behind the British forces posted on the Rhine. The book is written in the latter days of the cold war and focuses on the Army's preparations for potential attack by communist forces in West Germany as was. Whilst none of this is relevant in today's day and age it is still a very very funny and enjoyable book and provides great insight into the professionalism and humour of the ordinary British fighting man - an unqualified recommendation from me.
