Best Book in the World

I think the best book I have ever read. Having owned a Labrador Dog who had exactly the same problems as Marley at the end, I could absolutely understand the feelings that the Grogans were experiencing. This book made the tears roll down my face both with laughter and sadness. Marvellous! I couldn't put it down.

Moving and Funny

This is a really good book which confirms dogs as man's (and woman's) best friend. While it may be a tad overrated, it is undoubtedly funny and touching in equal measure.
You'll laugh, you'll cry and grow to love Marley the dog!

Marley would have driven me mad! !!
|
Ok, a confession : I'm a cat lover, not a dog person at all, but there was definitely something appealing about Marley. I guess it must have been his undying love for his master and family, it can't have been the incessant drool, constant wrecking behavior, or panic attacks during stormy weather.
The book begins with John and his new wife Jenny, setting out on their life together. They adopt a Labrador pup, only to find he has endless energy resources and very little brain! We follow them through their attempts to train their new pooch, the addition of three children to their family, changes in their work and home, through to the inevitable sad demise of their much loved pet.
While I could never live with a dog like Marley, he certainly provided constant entertainment and the book is testament to that. I admire his owners' tolerance and commitment. If you've got a mad dog this is compulsory reading, if you're thinking of going down this route, this book could make you think again, but if you just love dogs; read and enjoy.
