A worthwhile purchase

I've been using this cd pack for just a few hours and I'm amazed at how much I've been able to pick up and learn already. OK, it won't enable you to develop any real conversation or to discuss anything at any length, but it gives you some very handy basics and it's ideal for someone with no knowledge of Dutch at all, or at best, just a few words and phrases. Once you've mastered this then you can (and you'll need) to go on to something bigger, better and more complicated, but in the meantime, it's a very good and satisfactory way to start.

Quite the present!

A few weeks ago I received this as a gift after expressing to my partner a vague interest in learning Dutch. It was only seven weeks from receivng it that we embarked on a trip to the Netherlands, and let me say not only did I surprise myself but also my partner to my ability to converse there.
Absolutely fantastic!

Taught me to be a 'Dutch'ess

I really loved this language guide as it was simple to use and very efficient. I found the pronouncing of the language hard at first as I'd always done romantic languages like Spanish before, but this made it easier over time. I'm obviously not fluent yet, but I definitely feel a lot more sufficient in Dutch.

Great easy CD very useful!

I used this before a trip to Brussells and found I had learned enough for basic conversations and also ordering food etc. It really made a difference to start off conversations in Dutch even if after a couple of sentences we switched to English - everyone i met was impressed i had made the effort to learn some Dutch!

Just the job!

This is a wonderful course! I played it on my personal CD player 3 times a week while at the gymn and found I could recite the dialogues before too long. It took 6 weeks at most. We went over to Flanders 2 months later and to my amazement I could buy petrol, order coffee and pancakes and the language the locals used in reply was exactly what I'd met in the course! No, I couldn't discuss Belgian politics or the meaning of life, but my motivation to learn more with other TYS volumes on Dutch has soared. To be recommended without hesitation!
