Customer Reviews:
Much better than others have said.
I think the previous reviewers are unfair. This book is not a textbook or course guide for the poems contained in the anthology ... but the truth is it never claims to be. (The more recent publication, Aim Higher in Edexcel GCSE English, would be a better buy if that's what you're looking for.) This is, as it says on the cover, a revision guide, and as such it gives some very useful advice on how to revise and prepare for the exams. Other reviewers have complained that it doesn't tell you what the poems and stories are about. No, it doesn't. But it does help students to find out for themselves what they might be about. As someone who has taught this course for the last four years, I can honestly say I have found it extremely useful as a revision aid for my students.
Not much help
The only thing remotely worth buying about this book was the number of practice questions it had - saves you having to think of some - but with the obvious lack of model answers, it does nothing to boost your English skills.

I had anticipated something along the lines of anthology notes, essay tips, model answers and analyses of what makes an answer effective - and found none of these. Wouldn't recommend this book at all.
Complete Waste of Money
This is the only book available in the market for GCSE English Edexcel (there are others but out of print). I bought it for my son and I thought that it would include an explanation for the poems in the anthology but all I found was that it includes a set of questions on each topic for students to answer. Even when the students answer these bacic questions, the book provides no model answers which would assist the students to assess themselves.

The authors called this book a "coursebook" I think they meant that it is NOT a TEXTBOOK. This should have been made clear in the title of the book. The time that authors have spent on designing these primative questions together with the impresive cover could have been spent on writing the answer so that the students would have learnt something from the book.

not as good as it looks.
People, dont be boosted by the front page of the book, this is useless. Too Basic!!!!! So babyish. I thought it will be very complex, but it gives examples of poems, and nothing to say anything supporting the poem,.... none of...e.g. this poem portrays blah blah.

if i thought it was good i wudnt be writing this review!!!
