As an undergraduate student of the New Testament I found this book particularly useful in the area of the separation of early Christianity from it's Jewish roots. The book is fairly extensive, but Dunn still provides enough footnotes to point the reader to further reading should they so choose. The books presents clearly the pillars of Judaism and the challenges Christianity brought to the Jewish community and vice-versa. To anyone seriously considering early Christian and Christian formation scholarship this book is a must.
