Customer Reviews:
Top Notch
This great book (I cheated and listened to the tapes) is top notch especially for us yorkshire folk as his early childhood recollections are situated around the Doncaster/Sheffield area. The book is inspirational as it shows how the passion for hiking and acting were ignited very early on and how Brian persued them against the odds and the expected norms when he was bought up. Beneath the loud and often Expletive exterior is a passionate man who inspires - Felt like booking myself on an expedition up everest after this book!
Gee-wizz
Just a brief suggestion, don't buy the paperback. The lack of pictures of Mr Blessed's jaunts are a let down.
However the narritive is not, reading like a boys adventure book. You are quickly carried away by Mr Blessed's imagination and love for adventure. It is very easy to imagine his booming voice carrying you along. Worth a read.
Brian Blessed - The Lost World (Hidden Depths!!!)
Being a yorkshire person myself I found the tales of Brian's youth fascinating and entertaining a boy with an early obsession for the Lost World of Arthur Conan Doyle - a passion he pursued through his adult life conquering this vast plain and mountain at a ripe age - a true ambassodor for the notion that if you have enough passion you can achieve any of your dreams. Far from the loud and sometimes rude exterior portrayed of Brian on the big screen this book reveals a softer side. extremely entertaining and humerous. Would throughly recommend it and is easy reading ( I read it in two days)
Has Anyone Seen My Horse?
I must first admit to being something of a fan of Brian Blessed ever since he appeared in the movie "Flash Gordon" many years ago. It's rare in this day and age to find such a character. In turns he comes across as mad, funny, kind, caring and always great fun. It turns out he can write rather well too...

"Quest For The Lost World" charts Brian's attempt to climb one of the world's highest peaks, and his journey to Venzuela to climb the plateau that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write "The Lost World" - yes, it is based on a real place.

Brian is disarmingly frank and humourous about the discovery of his own limits, and keep us entertained the entire time with each day's adventures.

One section that had me laughing out loud was the summit ascent on the mountain in the first part of the book - where he suddenly felt much better after a couple of days struggling - so marched straight past the leading climbers and bellowed "HAS ANYBODY SEEN MY HORSE!?"

It goes without saying that you don't have to be a fan of Brian to read the book. It's a great read. I would recommend it to anybody.

INSPIRATIONAL AND UNFORGETTABLE!
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR EVERY PERSON WHO WISHES TO MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE. YOU`LL NEVER FORGET MR. BLESSED`S QUEST IN FULFILLING A CHILDHOOD DREAM, NOR HIS WONDERFULL CHARACTER.
