at last an adult vampire novel for modern women
|
I have read loads of vampire novels and began as an avid fan of Feehan and then L. K Hamilton, but the first became trite and the last contrived porn. L A Banks has created characters from a variety of ethnic backgrounds who talk and speak in today's language. They have flaws and they have serious passion but every thing is in context. The Guardians make this a story about family and all the associated emotional mishaps while the concept of Dante's Inferno is absolute genius!
This book should appeal to male and female alike of all races because the story is eternal. Good v Bad with loads of shades of Grey thrown in the mix.
The love scenes are potent but again not blatantly trying to raise ratings. This novel doesn't need that as the story and action does that on their own.
Reading this gave me the same thrill as when I read Vicki Pattersson's Shadows novels.
This book is the first that I have read that gave me real characters and real evil without making me roll my eyes or cringe. I read this book before her others and I am placing an order for her others right now.

Neck bitingly good

One of the very few books that to me was a constant page turner. I devoured this in one sitting.
Thoroughly enjoyable and the best so far of the LA Banks Vampire Huntress Series.
In this book we see Dami (the main character) acquiring vampirec powers and boy does she use them to full effect.
The world created by Banks is fab, pulling the reader in like water down a parched throat. It comes across magnificently. The characters are full and throughout the books you see them evolve, learning, loving, fighting and downright showing proper human traits.
I wont go into the story of the book or what happens as this is a read i encourage others to take individually. All i can say is that i am pleased with the money i spent. Great book. Good series.
