Customer Reviews:
Hilarious and surprisingly insightful
Despite having a cover that makes it look like a Hello! Magazine annual, this book is incredibly funny and satirical. It is more in the vein of Private Eye (but not quite so smug) than Heat. However, I have spotted quite a few silly mistakes - ages, song-titles etc., that while do not greatly detract from the enjoyment of this book, do suggest sloppiness. Hopefully later editions will have corrected them.
Enlightening and witty
At first I was sceptical as I saw yet another celebrity book - then I read it - wow - amusing, knowledgable, and surprisingly insightful. An enjoyable read and a great present for Christmas
Amazing! (although potentially embarrassing!)
Such a brilliant satirical book. The descriptions of the celebrities are always spot-on. I think one of the writers just died, which is sad. If you read Private Eye, or if you're just tired of the idiots who make millions on television because they are willing to sell their pride and self-respect for the sake of their fifteen minutes and a mock-Tudor mansion in Surrey, this is the book for you. I was reading it at work and when I read the bit about Elton John I laughed so loud I broke wind. It was emabarrassing in the extreme. So I advise you strongly not to read this in public!
Serious and seriously funny
I bought this after loving Donaldson's Rogues, Villains and Eccentrics. It didn't let me down. I was crying with laughter on the bus to work, and the book is indeed riotously funny. It is, however, more than this. It is a vitriolic and coruscating indictment of the celebrity age, holding a mirror up to the shallowness of the world of the X-Factor and Peter and Jordan's wedding. I cannot recommend this book highly enough - I will be giving it to everyone I know for Christmas.
