In this one, very reasonably priced volume , there is a complete reproduction of what must be the best private collection of botanical art amassed in modern times. No person who is at all interested in botany , or plant art should be without this most excellent volume. Dr Sherwood brings both her scientific knowledge and a passionate collector's and aethete's perception to her collection. The bulk of her marvellous and extensive personal collection of twentieth century botanical art is ilustrated in large, full colour plates that are some of the most exciting plant pictures that I have ever seen. Be careful , you may not be able to sleep after the first few times that you look at this book. The fine form, lush colour and sheer variety of the plates is overwhelmingly exciting. In the back of the book there is a biography of each of the artists represented in this large, international collection and a small colour picture of any pictures by each artist that are in the collection but not included in the main part of the book, is shown. This wonderful, wonderful book shows even the most stern devotee of classical botanical art that there are many living artists who have suceeded in equalling the excellence of the great plant artists of the past.
