A great beginner book on the subject and interesting read.

An excellent, concise and simple look at the spiritual work of a woman who was obviously great not only in her own time but by our standards too. The book is split into sections by type of von Bingen's works e.g. ways of worship, and gives explanations, where necessary, for the lay person. The authors also relate von Bingen's teachings to the present day and show her continuing relevance. Though a brief biography is offered (I would have liked more on her life and times) the book's main focus is her work and its meaning. Not an in-depth academic book, it is great for non-specialists and ordinary people, like me! I found it interesting, easy to understand and enjoyable. It was a great opener for me in learning about von Bingen. Highly recommended for those interested in great women and Christian teachings.
