A brilliant Analysis

Bertell Ollman's dance of the dialectic is one of the few books I know to provide a serious analysis of Marx's method. This book is not really for the uninitiated. But for those who have an interest in understanding how Marx approached his study of capitalism, and was able to reach the conclusions he did, this book is essential. Ollman's presentation of the subject matter is excellent. Each step in Marx's method (hence the dance) is explained, with particular focus placed upon Marx's concept of abstraction, and the philosophy of internal relations. Along the way, he exposes the fundamental weakness of the so-called "common sense" approach to reality which can, in fact, only scratch it's surface without providing us with a deeper understanding. If you want to understand Marx better, and in the process understand how the world works, I recommend this book.
