excellent intro to the subject
|
I've worked in feature films for a while and have recently come to a point where I needed a guide which helps me build on the practical knowledge I have of film-making itself.
I was looking for an introduction which elucidated the concepts behind the financial necessities driving schedules, but which also looked further back into the prehistory of a project, which I knew through the paperwork and unfolding realities and debates of the production.
I found this in Philip Alberstat's fine book.
It's okay reading books about screenplays and project histories, but the reality of film-making is in the legal framework of the finance. It governs everything else. I say that as someone who deals with spending that money as wisely as possible, and trying to realise all the creative ambitions.
Highly recommended.
