underrated

i thought this book was brillliant, it featured a mix of the new and old stuff, artists like Grayson perry were featured (they werent featured in the sensation book) and it really shows what some of the artists are capable of other than just their most famous works. i loved the book and would reccomend it to any YBA nut, or just anyone who appreciates new art, which is slightly more exciting than the usual 'not the turner prze' drivvel. buy it, worth every penny.

Don't believe the hype

This book does have a foreword by Saatchi - and advertising guru who saw a better way to save his money - great. The book also features the official line on each of the works. However, it is largely overpriced, and the high quality images of the works were simply recycled from the 'Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi collection' catalogue, meaning that you don't even get to see the works in their new Riverside setting (the gallery, like the book, being over priced). I am a follower of YBA works, but i would recommend the 'Sensation' book (which is also available from amazon) instead, which contains a lot more substance and features exactly the same works of the same image quality. But maybe, just maybe, if enough people buy this; King Charles will be able to lower the extortionate entrance fee of his new gallery.

ok But.....

I really like this book as I'm an art student and It's a great reference tool however the one thing I find really annoying is the fact that the comments or information on the work is right at the back of the book making it difficult to refer from quickly. I also don't live anywhere near london so it gives a useful insight to some of the arists featured in the gallery. I would recommend it if you study art or like to view gallries but if you're not an art maniac I wouldn't bother as it could leave you feeling confused as some of the explanations are useless.
