Customer Reviews:
True Legend
This is a great book for anyone interested in Poker or gambling or just wanting to read a true story of a remarkable man. Slim is best known due to the world wide boom in poker although he cut his cloth as a pool hustler and proposition betting, trying to ensure the odds are stacked in his favour at all times.

This is a book you will read in one sitting and be sat wishing for more.

The stories he comes up with are sometimes beyond belief but you can actually picture the scene very clearly and seem entirely appropriate for the times. Details about his days on the road with Doyle Brunson and the like make you wish you could spend an hour with him just to hear the stories first hand.

Some of the betting propositions he was involved in were absolutely fascinating and even more fascinating were the steps he took to get the odds in his favour!!

The book is honest about the scrapes he got into in his early days and whilst he undoubtedly has a an element of literary license to embellish some elements you feel as though everything is absolutely 100% true and even if it isn't it is that interesting that it doesn't matter anyway!!

You will not be disappointed.
You wish your life was this exciting!
There has been a hugh poker boom all around the world facilitated by on-line gambling, this book allows you to meet one of the true originals of the game. While this is not a work of outstanding literature, this is an outstanding vicarious read. Maybe you have heard of urban legend bets, well Slim did them - and 9/10 of them he won. As one of Slim's top rules 'If you don't see a sucker at the table, it's you.' testifies Slim bet on bets he had already won. Which is why he is a living legend in the world of gambling.

A story of early hustling -he was a top snooker and pool player - to his more famous poker playing days this book is a joy for anybody who has been a regular in the casino to a matchsticks-for-chips player. Slim's Southern..sorry Texan, way with words washes over you into a soothing lullaby of early vegas and 120 hour games of pool.
Read and enjoy.

An Ear Full Of Cider
Amarillo Slim is a name that should raise alarm bells if confronting him with any wager from sports to insect training. Using his Texan drawl in the to describe his lifestyle of gambling and hustles, you are drawn deeper into his character with every turn of the page.
Openly admitting some remorse for the occasional indiscretion in his youth, you can only admire his tenacity and ingenuity when stacking the odds in his favour.
A man you would like to play a hand of poker with? Certainly if you wish to here his patter at the felt, but definately not if you are to meet your mortgage payments this month.
Read it and I promise you WONT get an ear full of cider.
Gambling God
Armarillo Slim is widely reguarded as the greatest proposition gambler that has ever lived, and this book is a story of the amazing life he has led due to this fact. An excellent read for anyone who is interested in gambling and a thoroughly entertaining read for anyone who is not.
