Compelling and Disturbing
|
I had always known insinctively that pornography was a 'bad thing', that those who had 'girlie' calendars in their offices treated female staff with less respect for instance. But until I read Catherine Itzin's book I didn't know why.
It was at times excessively painful to read but the arguments are compelling, the evidence clearly presented and the deductions logical and well constructed.
This book is a must for anyone who wishes to know more about pornography and its effect on our western cultures. It will disturb you, it will upset you, but ultimately it will enable you to see our female sexualised culture as it really is and free you from its oppressions.
