Fantastic book-well priced and worth twice as much at least to any trainee teacher on a CELTA course, who will know just how refreshing it is to be reading and searching for ideas in a book that DOESN'T have some long drawn out index system which impedes the reader from actually finding ANYTHING relevant to what they are teaching, usually, in my case, the next day!!! Well done authors, and OUP!! Readers, BUY THE SET!!!!

Along with the others in the series, this book is marvellous, not least because it sets out so clearly the steps needed to teach the lessons. It was wonderfully refreshing to find good ideas quickly without poring over long wordy chapters for the appropriate area of Language Learning.I have four of the seven, three are still on order, and although they overlap, they focus on the individual skill in a well-tailored way. Don't delay, order them today, because I am still waiting for the final two-they were sold out-I'm not at all surprised.

The Oxford Basics series contains all the essentials for the newly qualified teacher and elementary learners. The books are organised into 30 useful topic areas eg. numbers, food and drink, describing people. Each book has the same format with units clearly laid out in the form of an actual lesson plan giving ideas for activities, checking comprehension, pronunciation points and follow-up activities. They have easy to copy pictures and a variety of exercises for each unit. Having bought all five books in the series they did at first seem to repeat material, however because each book focuses on a different skill they complement each other. For less than the average cost of a single teaching book I'd recommend the complete series.
