Not an easy listen

This has been my favourite novel since I was forced to read it at school (20-odd years ago) but unfortunately this tape does not do it justice. Simon Callow gives good voices to the characters, but the abridged version means that much text is chopped out and the delivery is at a rattling pace, presumably to keep it on one tape. I wouldn't recommend trying to listen to this on a journey as the volume is very variable!
