Ineffable

Here's a set of hauntingly beautiful short stories which I think are about the strangeness bubbling just below the surface of ordinary everyday life - very occasionally you catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of your eye! A quick web search shows that there's academic debate about whether the author was as conservative as he seems, or whether he was subtly talking about dislocation and alienation as per Kleist or Kafka ... I'd vote for the latter, but personally enjoyed the stories on a more immediate visceral level, and recommend them to you either way!
