I've been reading the "happy families" books to my children for as long as I can remember. The stories are as much fun for the adult as the child and I can read them over and over without ever getting bored! My particular fave is Mrs. Plug the Plumber a story showing Allan Alburg at his very best. I'd reccomend this book to anyone with children. Fabulous!

Mrs Plug balances kids and plumbing with a happy ending

Why isn't all feminist literature like this - it's light, witty, makes a point or six and still has a happy ending!
Mrs P has kids,but more importantly has a Useful Bag containing all the things that a female plumber needs ie a blow-torch, lip-stick, spanner, comb etc. She fixes everything with a kid balanced on each knee and remains cheerful as she goes about her plumbing work. Even the ship's captain remains cheerful despite one of the kids, temporarily plonked on his knee while Mrs P fixes the leaking ship, peeing gently on him!
A must for all from 2 to 82. Please give it to all your female friends who balance a job and kids and moan about it all the time - they just might see the fun side of it all!
