Gentle, and not overpowering with the religion
|
I bought this book when I was on a break in New York. I wanted something that was quite typically 'small town America' and got just what I wanted. At Home in Mitford follows the story of Father Tim, a rector in Carolina, as he just bumbles through day to day life. It's all very harmless, quite sweet (I'm sure some people would say possible a bit twee.) Although Father Tim is the central focus, I didn't find the book overpoweringly religious (luckily) Nice use of humour, so even when things go a bit wrong there's some nice light relief. I really enjoyed this book, in fact more than I enjoyed the second one in the series. If this is your 'bag' then I'd definitely give it a go!
