The book that starts to make sense of "The Teachings..."

I received The Teachings of Don Juan as a present three or four years ago, I found the book hard going and it was many months until I bought this one, and I'm so glad I did. A Separate Reality beings to open up the incredible world of the Yaqui Sorcerers through the eyes of Carlos Castaneda, a some what unwilling apprentice to the old Sorcerer Don Juan. It provides a tiny glimpse of the amazing insights into "reality" and other "realities" that Carlos had begun to experience during his time with Don Juan. If you have ever sat and wondered what it's all about, are there other worlds, other dimensions, then this book will open up many new avenues of thought and you won't rest until you have read every other book in the series. Unlike the first book which can seem a little dry at times, this as with all the later books demonstrates the great respect and dare I say love that Carlos developed for his teacher throughout his years as the apprentice. I also found it very easy to relate to his reactions as Don Juan takes him further into this world, an ordinary man living an extraordinary experience of learning. Above all I warmed to his humour, and the fact that he does not hesitate to highlight his own hang ups and failings as he struggles to comprehend an entirely new "cognitive system". Carlos Castaneda is credited by a great number of "New Age" and "Spiritual" writers as a major influence, and deservingly so.
